What is BISM?

Bloomington International Student Ministries (BISM) is a partnership of IU Christian student organizations and local churches which exists to help internationals of all backgrounds develop cross-cultural friendships and enjoy American culture, and which provides opportunities for students of all backgrounds to grow in understanding of the Christian faith.  We desire to assist you in any way and hope your involvement with us will be a positive part of your experience in Bloomington.

What does BISM offer?

  • Airport Pick Up – Get a warm welcome to the U.S. with a free ride from the airport to your new home
  • Furniture Give Away – Receive free furniture and household items to help set up your new living space
  • Winter Clothing Shopping – Find affordable winter coats and gear to stay warm during the cold months
  • Cookouts – Enjoy outdoor grilling, great food, and community fellowship in a relaxed setting
  • Ski Trip – Experience the thrill of skiing or snowboarding with friends on a fun winter adventure
  • Friendship Partner Program – Pair up with an American family and grow together in friendship
  • Thanksgiving Hospitality – Visit an American home for a Thanksgiving feast and experience the culture
  • Christmas Party – Celebrate Christmas with music, food, and festive activities in a joyful community gathering
  • English Conversation Class – Gather weekly to improve spoken English, learn idioms and slang, and practice in a friendly, supportive environment.


All campus ministries are registered with the I.U. Campus Religious
Leaders Association (CaRLA) and adhere to Indiana University
and CaRLA standards of ethics.
